Unmeasurable Impact

The end of a school year is a time of celebration – all of us can step away from the rigid schedule and fast pace of each day of working and learning. The end of a school year, however, is also bittersweet as we bid farewell to retirees and staff that are moving into new professional settings. Happily our fifth grade teachers will continue to enrich the learning experience of our children at Cove and Neil Cummins!

At yesterday’s final faculty meeting of the year, we hung posters on the walls and spent so that we could share our parting thoughts of gratitude to our colleagues. These are small gifts that in no way measure up to the immense impact these educators have had on the lives of children – and each other.

Author Gordon Mackenzie makes a poignant remark about the vitality of an organization: “If an organization wishes to benefit from its own creative potential, it must be prepared to value the vagaries of the unmeasurable as well as the certainties of the measurable.”

What is the individual and cumulative effect these professionals have had in our community – our Culture of Learning? Unmeasurable.
